How Organic Matters Began

A few years ago, life forced a reset.

Losing my corporate job during COVID pushed me to slow down and take a hard look at how I was living, and what I was putting on my body every day.

I bought a caravan, moved to the edge of Lake Wānaka with my dog, Summer, and committed to a lifestyle centred around health and wellbeing.

Like many people in New Zealand, I spend a lot of time outdoors - walking, training. swimming. snowboarding.

Sunscreen isn't optional.

But when I started paying closer attention to the products I relied on, something didn’t sit right.

Most sunscreens contained chemical UV filters I no longer felt comfortable using.

The mineral alternatives I tried were thick, chalky, and unpleasant to wear, making them hard to stick with long.

As I looked more closely, I realised that many mineral sunscreens improved initial feel by lowering zinc levels, which often reduces the level of protection overall.

In particular, some formulas relied more heavily on titanium dioxide. While this can improve texture, it offers weaker UVA protection, the rays responsible for long-term skin damage and visible aging.

And in a place with some of the highest UV levels in the world, that wasn’t good enough.

Living in a country with some of the highest UV levels in the world, that trade-off didn’t make sense.

That was the turning point.

Creating a Better Standard

I didn’t just want a "natural" alternative.

I wanted a high-performance mineral sunscreen that could handle harsh UV exposure and still feel genuinely good on the skin - something you could trust enough to wear every day.

And that meant full, reliable protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

So I started making one.

After years of development and refining exactly how the formula needed to feel and perform, I partnered with formulation specialists to bring that vision to life.

The result was a mineral sunscreen built around protection first, without sacrificing daily wearability:

• SPF50 broad-spectrum protection
• PA++++ high UVA defence
• 25% non-nano zinc oxide
• A balanced mineral texture that blends evenly and settles on the skin, without a heavy white cast
